One of the most important items to acquire in Subnautica: Below Zero is the full cold suit ensemble. On this side of Planet 4546B, the temperatures are freezing and players need to be protected in one way or another. The easiest way to stay warm is with the cold suit, which only requires a couple of ingredients to craft.
The first ingredient is fiber mesh, which is relatively easy to craft and find necessary resources for. However, the second is snow stalker fur, which lines the pieces of the suit to insulate it and keep the player warm and dry. The problem with this is, players don’t really know where they can go or what they have to do in order to acquire the animal’s fur.
Today, we’ll go over how to find snow stalkers and acquire some of their fur so you can craft the full cold suit in Subnautica: Below Zero.
Finding snow stalker fur in Subnautica: Below Zero

Snow stalkers are only found in a couple of biomes in Below Zero. As their name would suggest, they’re located in the most frigid parts of the world. These biomes include:
- Arctic Spires
- Glacial Basin
- Basin
- Blue Ice Caves
- Glacial Forest
Once you’ve managed to find a snow stalker, you’ll need a Spy Pengling in your inventory. Essentially, this is a camera drone that allows you to see and pick up the fur of snow stalkers. If you’ve found a den of snow stalkers, use the Spy Pengling and move it toward their direction.
Then, once you see one stalker, go up to it and you’ll get a prompt that says “attempt to collect fur.” Do this enough times and you’ll add some fur to your inventory. Be careful though, as the snow stalkers will run away if you poke at them too much.
If you don’t feel like interacting with the Spy Pengling or the snow stalkers, you can sometimes find fur in and around the Glacial Basin.
