Popular veteran YouTuber Boogie2988 (aka Boogie), who is best known for his comedic raging gamer character "Francis," has been accused of faking a cancer diagnosis. The scandal erupted after fellow content creator Destiny publicly questioned the authenticity of Boogie's claims during the Lolcow Podcast on Jul. 10, suggesting that the 49-year-old YouTuber was lying about his health.

Boogie, whose real name is Steven Williams, first announced that he had been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer called polycythemia vera on Twitter in November 2022. He claimed that the cancer was caused by a testosterone supplement he had been taking for the last "seven or eight" years.
