There's no combat in Still Wakes the Deep, but players will still need to employ stealth, puzzle-solving skills, and resourcefulness to survive and escape tense situations. When you're first getting started, it can be difficult to get a feel for exactly how the game works, and when you need to employ what strategies. Here are some tips and tricks for getting started in Still Wakes the Deep.
Pick A Difficulty Mode That's Right For You
Right off the bat, Still Wakes the Deep offers you two different options of ways to play the game. You can either choose the mode with platforming and puzzle-solving, or the story-based mode that lacks those. If you're looking for a strictly narrative-based experience, it's a good idea to pick that mode, but if you're looking for a more traditional gameplay experience, you should select the other.
Adjust Your Graphics
Still Wakes the Deep is a gorgeous game with lots of detail - but this can cause the game to struggle on lower-end computers and consoles. Before getting started, it's a good idea to adjust your settings, as they're usually set to the highest ones by default in order to let players fully enjoy the game. If you're having trouble with lag, it's a good idea to turn down Shadows and Graphics Quality before anything else.
Memorize Your Controls
Still Wakes the Deep doesn't have combat - but that doesn't mean you don't get to interact with the world around you. While playing the game, you'll be introduced to various different controls throughout the game that will allow you to evade enemies. It's a good idea to memorize these controls as you're introduced to them one by one, since knowing what to press can make the difference between falling off of a cliff after the ground falls beneath you, and surviving.
Practice Platforming
Platforming is one of the more difficult parts of Still Wakes the Deep. There are tons of areas where you can fall if you're not careful, so it's a good idea to get a feel for the game's platforming and be prepared for it at any moment. Even if you think you've managed to grab onto a ladder, that doesn't mean you don't risk falling off of it!
