In Still Wakes the Deep, there are lots of obstacles that will get in your way on the oil rig. Some of those obstacles, like the steam coming out of the valves, will prevent you from progressing entirely until you turn them off. Here's how to turn off the steam valves in Still Wakes the Deep.

How To Turn Off The Steam Valves

Once you reach the part of the game where the path is blocked off by steam valves, you might be wondering how to progress. If you walk into the steam, you'll take damage, and Caz won't be able to keep going. This means that you'll have to find a way to turn off the steam. Because there are three steam valves, there are also three wheels you'll need to turn to close them off and stop the steam.

The first wheel is on the platform just before the steam. You should be able to clearly see it in the little opening. You'll need to spin this wheel first. Just approach it, and you'll get a prompt letting you know what button you need to press to spin the wheel and close the valve. You can re-open it, too, though there's no need to do so at any point.

Next, you can head down the ladder next to that opening to go into a small area with another wheel. You'll need to look along the back wall to find it. Spin it to turn off the second steam valve.

There will be one more ladder in the back of the room you've just entered; head up that ladder to the third steam valve. Turn it to turn off the last, and final, steam valve. Now, all of the steam valves should be deactivated.

Now that all of them are turned off, you can head back the way you came without worry of the hot steam blocking your way!
