Starting life as a refined EML 850 light freighter ship, which ultimately became the Trailblazer as it's more widely known, this ship becomes Kay Vess' means of escaping Sliro and the Zerek Besh in the prologue for Star Wars Outlaws. This ship is one of Kay's primary vehicles, along with the Speeder, which, when both become available, makes traversal and exploration more engaging.

However, certain parts of the ship need some much-needed TLC, and it's up to Kay to track down Ship Mechanics and acquire ship components and upgrades to get the blazing ship back into orbit. This guide outlines how players can upgrade the Trailblazer, all the unique upgrades to unlock it, and general tips regarding this ship in Star Wars Outlaws.

How To Upgrade The Trailblazer In Star Wars Outlaws?

Upgrading the Trailblazer is relatively straightforward yet similar to the methods outlined in a separate guide to upgrading Kay's Speeder. Unlocking the ship will occur once Kay lands on Toshara and completes the first quest on the planet; she can finally access the Trailblazer, but it's in dire need of some repair work, which a skilled mechanic takes on this task.

Through exploration, Kay will locate Ship Mechanic NPCs offering unique upgrades Kay can acquire and services to have them installed. The first Ship Mechanic NPC is Waka when they arrive on Toshara; however, players will spend the majority of their time on Toshara to obtain Ship components and upgrades before setting off into orbit to complete various quests that require the ship.

However, unlocking more Ship Mechanic NPCs will require the ability to travel in Hyperspace, for which they can access other planets like Akiva, Kijimi, and Tatooine, for which an Expert NPC can be tracked down on Tatooine. Complete this Expert's Intel Chain questline to have their abilities and rewards available, and should they reach an "Excellent" reputation with the Pykes, they can receive the Ship Parts bundle as a Faction reward.

All Trailblazer Upgrades To Unlock In Star Wars Outlaws

With access to the Trailblazer at any given time, players can upgrade the ship once they have the resources, materials, and Credits to install unique components. Additionally, they must locate Ship Mechanic NPCs in the major cities throughout the Outer Rim, allowing them to perform these upgrades for the Trailblazer, and the best place to find them is near Landing Pads.

There's also an Expert NPC to track down using the leads acquired to complete their Intel Chain quest. This Expert NPC is Teeka, a resourceful Jawa that Kay can find on Tatooine, and once completed, they can access their services to gain various components and upgrades.

They can also obtain various abilities and rewards specifically for the Trailblazer from Teeka, the Expert NPC, by meeting specific requirements to unlock them through the Expert system. These include a unique Ship component that fixes the ship's turret slot, allowing an upgraded turret to be installed.

Nevertheless, we've listed all the Trailblazer components that can be upgraded in Star Wars Outlaws:

  • Weaponry:
    • LC-50 Laser Cannons (Cannons): Unlocked upgrades increase the firing rate, burst duration, and damage dealt by charged shots fired by the cannons.
    • M-52 Concussion Missiles (Launcher): Unlocked upgrades increase damage dealt by missiles, allowing for multiple locked targets and explosion radius while enhancing maneuverability and effectiveness.
    • TU-B4 Laser Turret (Turret): An ability unlocked through the Expert system; once the turret slot is repaired, unlocked upgrades can auto-fire laser cannons at locked enemies when triggered.
  • Propulsion:
    • E-210 Sublight Engine (Engines): Unlocked upgrades significantly increase the Trailblazer's speed while in Travel Mode.
  • Defenses:
    • H-AD Duralloy Hull (Hull): Unlocked upgrades will improve its durability and unlock and enhance the auto-repair feature while engaged in combat.
    • S15A Deflector Shield (Shield): Unlocked upgrades will boost the shield's overall capacity.
