Following the opening moments of Star Wars Outlaws, there will be a checkpoint in-game where Kay will fly the Trailblazer for the first time until catastrophe strikes. While the ship is decommissioned temporarily, there is another vehicle she'll gain access to, the Speeder, which she'll use for much of her exploration and completing quests.

Therefore, players must invest much time, resources, and Credits into making Kay's Speeder the fastest in the Outer Rim, which may help her evade high-threat situations. This guide provides a breakdown of the Speeder by highlighting how to perform upgrades on the vehicle, listing all available upgrades, and a few additional tips to scratch their need for speed in Star Wars Outlaws.

How To Upgrade Kay's Speeder In Star Wars Outlaws?

Much of our exploration can be done on foot by walking or sprinting, traversing across the galaxy within the Trailblazer, or taking the scenic route with the Speeder. The Speeder will be accessible to us following the completion of the first quest on Toshara, where, per a mechanic's instruction, we set off to Mirogana City in search of a Pyke underboss, Gorak, at a cantina of which we can reach this location on the Speeder.

While the controls and steering may be janky at best, this can be significantly improved a little later after finishing another main story quest, where they'll receive two pieces of intel from Danka regarding two Experts to track down. One of them is a Speeder mechanic who begins the Intel quest chain, where they can inquire from the bartender at a diner somewhere on Toshara about how to start progressing with this chain quest.

Once they've obtained more information at a wind fishing village to track the Speeder mechanic successfully, they completed one final task, which required the Ion module installed on the Blaster to complete. Return to the Speeder Mechanic to make them available as the map icon will be visible, but the importance of making them available is for the Expert system, which can acquire new skills once they've completed specific requirements.

There is another Expert NPC on Akiva, the Scavenger Expert, who'll have another Speeder upgrade to acquire, which completing the Intel chain quest will make them available. All that needs to be done is to view the requirements needed to unlock the Speeder upgrade and complete them to unlock it.

They can also visit other Speeder mechanics found across the Outer Rim, which are marked with the Speeder icon on the map, but they must first find them for the icon to reflect on the map permanently. When visiting a Speeder Mechanic, they can view which upgrades are available for various components, how many Credits will be required, and most importantly, what materials are needed.

The latter is extremely crucial as highlighting each material requirement will give them clues on getting their hands on the parts before returning to the Speeder Mechanic to install them. As such, we advise prioritizing the Speeder Mechanic Expert first to begin progressing with the various skills they can unlock and explore the Outer Rim to find more mechanics to upgrade their Speeder.

All Speeder Upgrades To Unlock In Star Wars Outlaws

Upgrade the Speeder can be done at a Speeder Mechanic or with the Expert NPC, the latter of which is available after completing their Intel chain quest. There are seven Speeder components to be upgraded; most are done by having the required resources and Credits to have them installed before unlocking their respective parts.

A few upgrades must be unlocked through the Expert system, like the Speeder Boost, before being installed to the Speeder. Once completed, they can proceed to unlock the remaining parts, for which we've listed all the Speeder components that can be upgraded in Star Wars Outlaws:

  • Moll K-19 Power Generator (Engine): Unlocked upgrades increase the engine acceleration rate.
  • Central Poise Steering System (Handling): Unlocked upgrades improve the "steering system" by increasing the max turn angle and responsiveness.
  • Duralumin Chassis (Armor): Unlocked upgrades will enhance the protection of internal Speeder components, which improves damage resistance.
  • Standard Speeder Repulsor System (Landing Repulsor): Unlocked upgrades improve the handling when landing the Speeder, including reducing damage incurred from hard jumps and granting a minor speed burst when making "perfect landings."
  • Speeder Boost (Speed Boost): An ability unlocked through the Expert system, upgrades will grant the Speeder a "quick burst of speed" when triggered.
  • Repulsion Blast Coil (Jump Boost): An ability unlocked through the Expert system, which unique upgrades will increase the max height of jumps.
  • Speeder Surface Repulsor (Enhanced Repulsor): An ability unlocked through the Expert system that equips an upgrade to allow the Speeder to traverse smoothly over bodies of water.
