Acquiring intel and skills that can be valuable to Kay Vess and Nix will be central to most players' in-game experiences in Star Wars Outlaws. As the underworld is littered with various NPCs, associates, and enemies that could assist Kay and Nix during their exploits, so a few Experts may be of significant importance for the duo to seek out.

The Expert system is at the heart of this, as players will explore the Outer Rim to pursue these experts and study under their learning tree, but finding them won't be easy. This guide summarizes what we know thus far about the Expert system by providing a summary of this feature, what it offers to Kay Vess, and how to recruit the Expert NPCs in Star Wars Outlaws.

What Is The Expert System In Star Wars Outlaws? Explained

The Gameplay Showcase, shown at the Ubisoft Forward in June 2024, gave excited players a first look at the Expert system. Its YouTube video description follows "Kay Vess on a mission to Mos Eisley to track down an expert gunslinger...  in the Outer Rim."

The Expert system functions similarly to the Skill Tree system, in which Kay Vess can acquire unique skills to aid her adventures. According to game director Mathias Karlson in the Ubisoft Forward Gameplay Showcase, several Expert NPCs must be found across the Outer Rim, which Kay must first locate before completing its related assignments to gain these skills.

These experts are proficient in various skills that can be taught to Kay or provide her with access to unique upgrades, which she could find valuable later in her journey. In Star Wars Outlaws, some skills Kay can acquire include Bartender, Gunslinger, and Mechanic Expert skills; each skill has six upgrades to unlock that have specific conditions to meet.

In the Gameplay Showcase, the Bartender Expert skill has six perks; the Fast-Talk perk can be unlocked by using takedowns on three distracted enemies and defeating five enemies using a melee weapon. There is also the option to "Follow Progression," allowing players to view their progress and how close they are to meeting these unlock conditions.

For Kay to be taught these unique skills or gain access to unique upgrades from these Experts, she must utilize the intel provided to her and do some investigating before following a trail until they've successfully found them. These missions can be dangerous depending on their reputation with the syndicate that controls the territories that Kay enters.

Once Kay has located these Experts, she will recruit them by completing their questline to learn these new skills or access various upgrades within each Expert's field of expertise. As mentioned before, there are eight Experts to find throughout the Outer Rim to gain these skills, each with six perks to unlock and various conditions to meet.

The Gameplay Showcase walkthrough showcased the Gunslinger Expert skill, which she must track down an expert in Mos Eisley before recruiting them and gaining its related perks. Other perks Kay can acquire other perks from these experts, including extracting information, lockpicking, and ship and speeder upgrades.
