How to Get the Gold Mask and Armor in Sons of the Forest

Sons of the forest feature various resources and items for players to collect which can help them survive and reach new locations in the game. Two of these items are extremely unique and more difficult to obtain than the others, namely, the Gold Mask and Gold Armor. 

So if you're struggling to get your hands on these unique items and are curious to know what their uses are in the game, then we have you covered. Below we'll break down how to get the Gold Mask and Gold Armor in Sons of the forest, as well as explain what each of these items is used for in the game. 

How to Get the Gold Mask and Armor in Sons of the Forest

Both the Golden Armor and Gold Mask can be found in one of the cannibal-infested bunkers on the southeast region of the map near the large lake, as shown in the image below. But before heading inside, you'll need the Zipline/Rope gun, the Rebreather, the Shovel, and the Maintenance A Keycard, so use our guides as linked to find these items, and you'll be ready to find the Gold Mask and Armor inside the facility. 

How to Get the Gold Armor in Sons of the Forest

Once you find the location as shown above and make your way into the cave, you'll head straight through until you find a hole in the ground that leads to the facility. Once inside, head down the stairs and towards the security doors.

Continue down until you reach a gold/yellow door and prepare for a fight, as there are quite a few mutants on the other side. This is Level 1 of the facility, and after clearing it out, you can search the area for items, where you'll find a Pistol, Pistol Rail attachment, Numbers Translation note, Putter, Golf Balls, and a few other random pickups. 

Now you can head down to Level 2 through the stairway on Level 1, where you'll find the Golden Armor, Katana, and Shotgun Rail attachment. As with the first floor, clear out the level of mutants, then search around to find the items you need; the Golden Armor will be inside a room with ice spilling out onto the floor, and go inside to find the Golden Armor in the living quarters.

How to Get the Golden Mask in Sons of the Forest

The Golden Mask can be found in the morgue on Level 5, so from Level 2, head down the stairs until you reach level 5 (levels 3 and 4 are blocked off so just ignore them). Then head towards the double doors in the main corridor of level 5, and be sure to watch out for the one creepy mutant wandering around who can surprise you. 

After finding the doors, head through, and you'll find the morgue. From here, check the tables, and you'll find the Gold Mask on one of the bagged bodies in the room. Finally, when you're ready to leave, use the Keycard on the nearby double doors and follow the passageway to a cave that will take you out of the facility. 

Golden Mask and Golden Armor uses in Sons of the Forest

Now that you have both the Golden Mask and Golden Armor, you may be wondering what they're used for in the game. As for the Golden Mask, it's still quite a mystery among players, but the prevailing theory is that it functions similarly to the red 3D printed mask, which allows you to tame and de-aggro mutants, but at a far more successful rate. While the 3D-printed red mask isn't guaranteed to make mutants docile, the Golden mask is basically guaranteed to do so.
