Many players love to team up with friends to play Pokemon GO, and Niantic is making it easier than ever with the upcoming release of a new social app, Niantic Campfire.
Niantic Campfire will allow players to communicate and coordinate with friends to play Pokemon GO and other Niantic games, whether you're a street away or a country away from your friends.
Here's everything you need to know about Niantic Campfire, from its functionality to its release date to how you can join.
Niantic Campfire
Niantic Campfire is Niantic's new social media app, centered around its own games, announced on 30th June on the company's website.
The app is the company's first venture into making apps outside of games like Pokemon GO and Ingress.
What is Niantic Campfire?
Niantic's Campfire app will allow users to communicate more effectively with friends so they can participate in in-game activities together. For example, users can see when their friends are online nearby in their city so they can team up for a Pokemon GO raid.
Players will be able to chat, send images, coordinate events with other players, join local groups, and see friends on the map.
In other words, players will no longer need to use external forms of communication - like Discord, Kik, Snapchat, or even text - to meet other Pokemon GO and Ingress fans.
By allowing players to chat with one another, add new friends, and attend local meetups, Niantic Campfire will extend many positive aspects of Pokemon GO and make them more accessible for most players.

- Pokemon GO Legendary And Mega Raid Boss Schedule (July 2022)
- Pokemon GO Battle Weekend 2022 - Best Path Choice

Niantic Campfire will be compatible with all Niantic mobile games, from Pokemon GO to Ingress.
When Will Niantic Campfire Come Out?
In a 30th June press release, Niantic stated that it would begin to globally release Niantic Campfire "in the coming days."
Players were able to download the app in some regions on the Google Play Store and iOS App Store in early July. Upon the initial release, some users complained that they could not access the app, or that it had bugs that caused them to be unable to use it properly.
Despite these issues, Campfire will be released in all regions over the course of a few months, according to the company's June press release.
