With the Season of Alola now live in Niantic’s reality mobile blockbuster Pokémon GO, new things are expected to arrive in the game. But of course, this includes brand-new Pokémon entering the fray, with one of those being Rockruff – the Generation 7 Puppy Pokémon.
Rockruff, as obvious as it could be, is a Rock-type Pokémon that evolves into Lycanroc. This Wolf-type Pokemon has three forms: the Midday, Midnight, and Dusk forms. How cool is that!?
Though, of course, you need to have Rockruff first before diving into those interesting evolution stuff. But we are glad to help with how you may do so. So without further ado, here’s how you can get Rockpuff in Pokémon GO.
When does Rockruff appear in Pokémon GO?
Rockruff is officially available in Pokémon GO. Its event already began last Tuesday, 1st March at 10:00 am local time and will run until Wednesday, 9th March at 8:00 pm local time. However, there is a catch - Rockruff can’t be caught in the wild.
How to get Rockruff in Pokémon GO?
At present, Trainers have two ways to get their hands on Rockruff in Pokémon GO. The first method is through One-Star raids, while the second includes owning 10km eggs.
But still, the Pokémon could be rampant for the duration of its availability. So, be ready and look for those to have a chance of catching Rockruff. Besides, who knows, maybe we’ll have more ways to get the Pokémon in the near future.
Rockruff Weaknesses and Resistances
Since Rockruff is a Rock-type, its Weaknesses include:
- Fighting
- Grass
- Ground
- Steel
- Water
As for Resistances, take note of the following to know what you should avoid using when facing Rockruff:

How to get Midday and Midnight forms of Lycanroc in Pokémon GO
Now that you know how to get Rockruff in Pokémon GO, we might as well dive into learning how to evolve it into either the Midday or Midnight forms of Lycanroc.
Notably, you will need 50 candies to do so; however, the evolution form you prefer depends on what time you’ll be able to evolve Rockruff.
Evolving Rockruff during the day will earn you the Midday form of Lycanroc. In comparison, you can have the Midnight form if you evolve Rockruff at night. That’s it. Easy, right?
As for its Dusk form, it is still not available in the game. But we will keep you posted once Niantic drops the ball and introduces Lycanroc’s final form. So, make sure to follow us for more gaming news and updates as it happens via our dedicated section.
Best of luck, trainers!
