MLB The Show 25 Release Date Prediction, Confirmed New Features

With the new year underway, players are already looking ahead to the upcoming MLB The Show 25 release date. A staple of sports gaming for nearly three decades, MLB The Show has reliably launched around the start of baseball season for several years.

Each new installment aims to do more than just deliver a roster update, as some game modes and core gameplay features see changes every year. As the expected MLB The Show 25 release date draws near, some of this year's new features have already been confirmed as more than one game mode is in need of a refresh.

MLB The Show 25 Release Date Prediction

While exact details have not yet been confirmed, a quick look back at previous installments gives a clear signal to when MLB The Show 25 should arrive. Recent years have consistently seen MLB The Show land on a Tuesday just before the regular season begins. One wrinkle into that mix this year is the relatively new international series kicking off the season with a few early games.

While traditional Opening Day won't be until March 27, 2025, the Tokyo Series will kick things off the week before on March 18 and 19 as the Dodgers play the Cubs in the Tokyo Dome. If Sony San Diego wants to line things up with those games, the likely MLB The Show 25 release date will be March 18, 2025.

This isn't far off from the March 19 and March 28 releases of the last few years, and Early Access will likely still give players a few extra days to start playing. If they continue the four-day Early Access bonus of recent years, that'll allow many players to begin as soon as March 14. There's a slight chance that Sony San Diego will go even earlier and target March 11 as a release date, but that would mark the earliest annual release since MLB 13.

New Features, Game Mode Changes

While full details about MLB The Show 25 aren't expected to start arriving until late January and into February, the developers revealed one big change as early as November 2024. MLB The Show 23 and MLB The Show 24 introduced a new Sets & Seasons mechanic for Diamond Dynasty, and San Diego Studio has heard the community's frustration and will be removing it in MLB The Show 25.

The same announcement also teased the following for this release:

• Road To The Show: Deepen the player’s journey, before being drafted, and return control to how a player develops and grows in new and interesting ways. 
• Diamond Dynasty: Alongside the retirement of Sets and Seasons, our fans can look forward to all-new elements of the Diamond Dynasty experience blended with what our fans love most about Diamond Dynasty.
• Franchise: Improved trade evaluation metrics are coming along with a new fun and engaging offseason experience.
• Gameplay: With the expansion of quick time events, defensive AI, and pathing updates, enjoy more engaging moment-to-moment gameplay.  

As of now, that's all they've confirmed for MLB The Show 25. The most impactful may end up being Road to the Show, which has been in need of a rework for some time. While the RTTS experience wasn't bad in the last few years, it's felt stagnant and offered little incentive for dedicated career mode players to upgrade to a new version.
