As Season 1 of Marvel Rivals draws near, speculation is running high, with hints of vampire-themed content and the debut of the Fantastic Four, though little else is known about the upcoming content. Fans have eagerly dissected the latest Sanctum Sanctorum trailer, and after noticing a potential Easter egg, players are now theorizing that Wong could be joining the game.

Marvel Rivals recently released a short video showcasing some of the content coming in Season 1, and in it, we get a glimpse of a new map - the home of Doctor Strange, Sanctum Sanctorum. As the camera pans through the magical environment (which looks like it will be so fun to play in), players notice a peculiar Easter egg.

In the trailer, a portrait of Wong can be seen. Fans may recognize him from the MCU, but he's also a long-established character in the Marvel comics. This has led many players to speculate that Wong could be a playable character in the future. While some of these suggestions are more humorous, there’s some validity to the idea.

On the Marvel Rivals subreddit, a thread titled “Wong revealed in the new trailer” had players expressing their excitement. “I really hope Wong gets added as a strategist,” one Reddit user said. “The Sanctum Sanctorum and Kamar-Taj could use one more representative in the game.” Another player chimed in, “Wong being a surprise addition in Season 1 when?” with others suggesting possible abilities, like “redirecting fire back at enemies” or a “sigil mark on the floor with a heal over time.”

And honestly, we agree. Wong isn't just some side character - he’s been a major presence in the magical realm of the comics since his introduction in 1963. He’s served as the loyal companion to the Ancient One and later Doctor Strange, and in the MCU, he becomes and remains the Sorcerer Supreme. With his powerful background, Wong certainly has the potential to hold his own in battle.

Of course, this is just fan speculation, and there’s no real confirmation. But it’s fun to theory-craft, and who knows? With Marvel Rivals' wide array of characters to choose from, the possibility of Wong joining the roster isn't entirely out of the question.
