Jeff The Baby Land Shark's Gameplay Is Leaving Marvel Rivals Players Bubbly With Cuteness

Marvel Rivals announced at San Diego Comic-Con last week that two more playable characters were joining its expanding roster: the God of Thunder, Thor, and Jeff the Baby Land Shark, available in the ongoing Closed Beta. While Thor is a fairly established Marvel hero due to its popularity within comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jeff was a fairly niche character until its popularity skyrocketed following its debut in Marvel Snap.

The latter has been widely gaining traction with Marvel Rivals players due to its exciting gameplay, which has left opponents in a whirlpool of cuteness. While this adorable four-legged friend's abilities may be slightly smaller than other characters, he has proven extremely valuable in supporting the team with ample bubbles and its sunny personality.

Since he arrived to the superhero team-based PvP shooter on 27th July 2024, players have been eagerly excited to swim the waters with this friendly land shark to massive success. Following the release of his character reveal trailer, Marvel Rivals players have proudly claimed to protect the aquatic hero at all costs, while incredible gameplay footage has surfaced online showcasing his powerhouse abilities.

Jeff is currently classed as a Strategist in Marvel Rivals, and he provides healing to his allies with his "Healing Bubble" ability which is pure joy for players to see and allies to be thankful for. He also has a Passive ability, Oblivious Cuteness, which reduces damage taken from critical strikes and also likes to hide from enemies with the Hide and Seek ability, which allows Jeff to swim across environments to give him a Movement Boost, but at the cost of having his fin exposed.

Perhaps the ability that is terrifying opponents is the "It's Jeff!" ability, which allows Jeff to "dive into the scene" before reemerging to "swallow" them in a whirlpool with his range. He'll momentarily trigger the Hide and Seek ability once enemies have been swallowed and then spit them out, but this ability can also swallow his allies to help them quickly escape sticky situations before providing much-needed healing with bubbles.

Jeff the Baby Land Shark is one of Marvel Comics' more recent characters to debut as his first comic book appearance occurred in the West Coast Avengers (2018) #7, published in January 2019. Having been created by M.O.D.O.K. to serve this "megalomaniacal supervillain," he eventually joins the aforementioned superhero team by Gwenpool as he's shown always to help out his friends and other heroes when in need.
