While good coverage and denying a play is great, being able to strip the ball in Madden 25 can turn things around in an instant. The only thing better than a sack is a strip sack, and the only thing even better is returning that forced fumble for a touchdown. It'll take some time for you to master all the Madden 25 controls, but knowing how to strip the ball and force a fumble is crucial for a deadly defense.

Some of this is going to come down to timing, but it definitely helps to have some of the best players possible on your defense. If you're using a defensive front that can't get any pressure or your secondary is leaving plenty of space for receivers, it'll be difficult to find the moment to force a fumble in Madden 25.

Much like going for an interception, this is also a risky but potentially rewarding strategy. You're usually more likely to bring a player down with a solid tackle, as a mistimed punchout can instead cause your defender to bounce off the ballcarrier without even getting them to the ground.

First, you need to be controlling a defender closing in on a player with the ball. Whether you're controlling the player for the entire play or switch to them once you spot an opportunity, just make sure you're using the right defender before the tackle is initiated. Just before you make impact, press RB (on Xbox) or R1 (on PlayStation) to attempt to strip the ball.

Times that this can be most impactful are when putting pressure on a quarterback and rushing for the sack, any time a ballcarrier gets cocky near the goal line, and perhaps most impactfully on returns. Whether it's a punt return or you're utilizing the new NFL kickoff rules, flying in with a defender and punching the ball out on impact will take an entire possession away from your opponent.

Your best friend is going to be persistence. Getting used to the timing is good, but part of that can be just attempting punchouts whenever you can through games or in practice. After a few succeed, you'll have a better idea of the timing and positioning that helps increase your odds. Give it some time, and soon you'll be an absolute defensive menace in Madden 25.
