WARNING: This news article discusses a new gameplay/combat strategy for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom that may induce a fear of deep waters—Thalasophobia.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has plenty of charm and a whimsical feeling that one wouldn't expect something so deeply sinister to happen, right?! Unfortunately, this is precisely the case, as imagine our surprise at learning of a brilliant yet fear-inducing strategy that instantly eliminates enemies in a confined manner.
Mind you, we have used the Bind ability to attach to enemies and send them over cliffs or drop them into deep dark holes within the caves, but a few players found another way that may be as terrifying as these options. This was the context of a Twitter post recently as one user uploaded a clip of them trapping enemies using a lesser-used Echo without causing any harm to the Hylian princess, Zelda.
The Echo in question is the Water Block Echo, which can be extremely helpful when exploring the Seesyde Village, Zora River, and Zora Cave locations in Echoes of Wisdom. It also comes in handy when entering the Stilled Upper Zora River and Stilled Jabul Waters Rifts, where underwater exploration is mostly prevalent, as players can obtain this Echo while investigating the Stilled Jabul Waters Rifts.
As for why this obscure Echo is central to this new cheese strategy, Aftermath co-founder Chris Person posted on Twitter that summoning the Water Block Echo and using the Bind ability is "the most busted strategy" in-game. How exactly? Head into the Echoes menu and locate the Water Block Echo before summoning a Water Block once they've spotted a lone enemy which, using Bind to attach to them, they can drag an enemy into the water cube, which will cause them to drown instantly.
Undoubtedly, this strategy may shave a few minutes of players' total game time with Echoes of Wisdom, as it's quite a fascinating yet sinister way of using the Water Block Echo other than what we currently use it for. Of course, this strategy is ingenious (and disturbing even for the Hylian princess) as the innocuous Water Block finally has a strong utility in-game; just how will it rank or compare to perhaps the most OP Echo in Echoes of Wisdom, the Bed is a question only time itself will tell.
