After announcing the 2021 roadmap regarding the competitive scene of their popular mobile game, Garena has decided to release all the info about the return of their maximum competition, the Free Fire World Series 2021, after a year of absence in which it was replaced by the Continental Series.
The Free Fire World Series will be back during the month of May, where the best 22 teams from around the world will meet to define a new world champion team, after the great victory of Corinthians in the 2019 edition held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
It’s time to learn all the details about this big event, which will seek to crown the best Free Fire squad in the world.
Free Fire World Series 2021 Format
For this event, the 22 teams representing the 14 Free Fire competitive regions will be participating in two competition stages, being divided according to their performance in their respective regional leagues and international relevance.
Free Fire World Series 2021 Play-In Stage
Teams from the following regions will be participating in this phase:

These teams will compete in six matches, which will be held between the three available maps of the game: Bermuda, Purgatory and Kalahari.
Each team will receive a certain amount of points depending on in which position they finished, and how many kills the members of each squad managed to accumulate during the match
At the end of the six matches, the two teams that achieve the highest score will advance to the next phase of the Free Fire World Series 2021.
Free Fire World Series 2021 Final Stage
Here, the champion teams of the 10 main regions of the Free Fire competitive scene will be waiting for the two survivors of the Play-In Stage, with the representatives of the following regions being qualified:

For this stage, the same format of games and scores from the previous round will be maintained, with the difference that the team that obtains the most points will be crowned the new world champion in the Free Fire World Series 2021 competition.
Free Fire World Series 2021 Schedule
The Play-In Stage will take place on 22nd May, while the Final Stage will be broadcast a week later, on 29th May, with the venue for this competition yet to be officially announced.

This event will be supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), while its organization will be in charge of several organizations, including the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA), in search of being able to apply the appropriate health protocols to maintain the integrity of the players.
One of the executive directors of the STB, Jean Ng, mentioned that: "We are proud to support our homegrown gaming company Garena as they prepare for Free Fire World Series 2021, one of the world's leading e-sports tournaments. The return of such events testifies to Singapore's growing reputation as an e-sports destination, as well as our ability to host such events safely."
Free Fire World Series 2021: Prize Pool
Being one of the biggest surprises by Garena, it has been announced that the prize pool to be distributed will be $2,000,000.

This places it as the biggest ever offered by Garena for any of their official events, since the inception of the Free Fire competitive scene.

As in previous events, this can be followed live through the official Free Fire channels on YouTube, while the broadcast times will be announced as the event approaches.
To conclude, Nicholas Khoo, co-founder of SCOGA said that "This is definitely a milestone event and we are looking forward to hosting all the participants safely.", while also believing hosting an event like this will be a boon for Singapore's esports ambitions.
