With the arrival of FIFA 23 fans are excited to get back onto the pitch with their favorite football title. But with its new release comes a new system of crossplay for each game mode, allowing fans to play together and challenge each other while progressing through the game.
For those who want to know how the system has been changed or a refresher on the crossplay and cross-progression functionality in FIFA 23, then keep reading. Below we'll explain everything you need to know about these new features and more available in FIFA 23.
FIFA 23 Crossplay Explained
Crossplay has been around in FIFA before, and the main differences you will find now are the platforms, which have been split into two camps regarding which platform you can play on with friends.
Those that play on Xbox One and PS4 will be restricted to playing against players on those consoles, and the same applies to those players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X│S, Stadia, and PC (via Steam/Origin).
EA has also noted in their official blog post that “modes that match players, like Pro Clubs, will not feature cross-play at this time". Meaning that players can only play these modes with players on the same platforms.
However, the inclusion of PC players is a huge positive for players who have been left out in the past by console-only functionality. This new crossplay feature is also enabled by default and is an opt-out feature, meaning you will have the largest pool of players available to play against or with at any time.

FIFA 23 Cross-Progression
Explained
At the time of writing, there is no mention of cross-progression from EA regarding FIFA 23. This likely means the feature will not be implemented in the game, at least for now.
This inherently means if you were looking to move over to a different platform for any reason, you would have to start a brand new club and play from the beginning. Fans would have loved this feature to be sure, but unfortunately, EA has left us hanging in regards to this desired feature.
And that's everything you need to know about the crossplay and cross-progression functionality in FIFA 23.
