The recent Fallout Day Broadcast revealed plenty of information about the future of the franchise, especially Fallout 76. Details emerged about the upcoming Ghoul gameplay update set for 2025, which promises many exciting and unique features. Let’s dive into what we can expect from this update and explore the new content coming to Fallout 76.

Ghoul Perks and Abilities Coming To Fallout 76 in 2025 - Explained

As mentioned during the recent Fallout Day Broadcast, the Ghoulish gameplay update arriving in 2025 for Fallout 76 will allow players to truly transform into monsters. According to the developers, once players reach level 50 and complete the "Ghoulification" quest, they’ll have the option to become a Ghoul.

This transformation comes with many benefits but also some downsides. Ghouls will no longer need to worry about hunger or thirst, and not only will they be immune to radiation, but entering irradiated zones will heal them and potentially unlock new abilities.

However, players will need to keep an eye on their Sanity, or "Feral meter," because if it exceeds a certain threshold, they will turn into a Feral Ghoul—a mindless creature that attacks anything on sight.

Becoming a Feral Ghoul isn’t entirely negative, though, as Feral Ghouls come with their own set of perks. For instance, they can transform into unstoppable berserkers with immense melee damage.

Both regular and Feral Ghouls will also have access to unique Ghoul-specific perk cards, which, combined with their immunity and more aggressive playstyle, will open up a wide range of gameplay possibilities.

Choosing to become a Ghoul is also a social and narrative decision. Some players and NPCs may not approve of your transformation, with groups like the Brotherhood of Steel being particularly hostile. However, the upside is that you can join other Ghouls, form communities, and explore the wasteland together as a new type of player.

Interestingly, players will still have the option to deceive organizations like the Brotherhood into working with them despite being a Ghoul. Additionally, while it’s possible to revert to human form, the process is still unclear.

But with all the perks, abilities, and unique experiences that come with being a Ghoul, it’s worth giving it a try when the Ghoul update launches in 2025 for Fallout 76.
