I absolutely adore the comic-horror fishing game, which you could probably clearly tell from my Dredge review, where I gave the title a well-deserved 9/10. On 15 August 2024, developer Black Salt Games released its second story DLC for Dredge, entitled The Iron Rig, and it's much bigger than the first one (Pale Reach).
When I played Dredge with The Iron Rig purchased on my Steam Deck, I couldn't help but wonder when or how I could actually start the DLC story and where the big structure's location is on the map. If you are in the same boat (sorry!), then we've got you covered!
The Iron Rig Location in Dredge: How To Start
The image above should say it all. The The Iron Rig's location on the map is the red question mark, so you can go and help out the Ironhaven Corporation and clean up their mess!
For those wondering if there are any prerequisites to start The Iron Rig, not really. There are no quests that pop up sending you there, but I do recommend completing the Twisted Strand area (third in the main quest) or at least clearing the first two areas.
You'll need to have learned all of Dredge's mechanics quite well, and while you can start The Iron Rig earlier, I preferred doing it after completing the main story.
What is The Iron Rig DLC?
The Iron Rig DLC adds a tonne of content to Dredge, including new upgrades, fish, mechanics, and several quests. It should take roughly five to six hours, in my experience, to complete the story, while doing everything can keep you busy for a dozen hours or more. It cost $11.99 and was released on 15 August 2024. An official description reads:
Gather, craft and deliver your way through the mysteries of The Iron Rig, revisiting areas from DREDGE to investigate ancient disturbances stirring in the deep. Assist the Ironhaven Corporation in constructing facilities that unlock items, gadgets and more, but what are they truly here for?
