How to disable Dota 2 guild invites

Valve released the Dota 2 Battle Pass for The International 10 on 25th May. The Battle Pass is massive, including a tonne of features, but it isn't perfect. The Dota 2 guild feature is causing some issues, as players are getting harassed by nasty invites.

If you don't want to suffer from the same ordeal Michelle "Moxxi" Song did, or you are just getting tired of all the spam, we've got you covered. In this guide, we show you how to disable Dota 2 guild invites.

How to disable Dota 2 guild invites

Thanks to Team Secret's Director of Operations, Matthew Bailey, we know how to disable or block Dota 2 guild invites.

So, if you are tired of all the invites, and just want to be left alone to play your matches, you should follow these easily-reversible steps.

First up, you need to enable the Dota 2 command console with the following steps:

  1. Open the Steam client
  2. Navigate to Library tab
  3. Right-click Dota 2
  4. Select Properties
  5. Navigate to General tab
  6. Click Set Launch Options...
  7. Enter -console in the text field
  8. Run Dota 2
  9. Hit the console hotkey (Default is \)

Set your preferred console hotkey in the advanced key config menu in the game, if you don't like the default one.

Now for the last steps to disable Dota 2 guild invites:

  • Run Dota 2
  • Open your command console
  • Type in: dota_guild_ignore_invites 1

From now on, you shouldn't get any Dota 2 guild invites. You can easily reverse the process by following the steps above, and typing "dota_guild_ignore_invites 0" in the command console. Further, you can remove the "-console" launch option if it bothers you.

If you are taking a break from Dota 2, then you can always spend some time watching the latest episode of our Lockdown video series.
