In Demonologist, the easiest way to die is by the hands of a ghost during a hunt; after your Sanity drops significantly, you might find yourself running and looking for a place to hide. While being hunted can be intimidating, you can thankfully fend off the ghost using a tool called a Crucifix.

How To Get A Crucifix In Demonologist

To get a Crucifix, you'll first need to buy one from Demonologist's in-game Tool Inventory Menu in the safe house. One Crucifix costs $2,000. It's a costly purchase, but it's well worth it since it'll save you from death, allowing you to potentially make much more money in the long run. 

How To Use A Crucifix In Demonologist

To use a Crucifix, bring it along with you in your toolkit to your next ghost-hunting trip. You can bring up to two of them during any given quest. 

Keep the Crucifix on hand, since you'll need to use it before you trigger a potential hunt in order to prevent one. There's no range to the Crucifix, so no matter what you're doing or where you are, it'll take effect. 

To use it, simply equip it in your hand and place it down. It's best to keep the Crucifix until you actually need it. If you're dealing with a particularly aggressive ghost, you might consider placing one down. You might also consider using one when interacting with cursed objects like tarot cards or the voodoo doll. Much like in Phasmophobia, interacting with cursed objects can upset the ghost and trigger a hunt. 

If you don't use a Crucifix before the ghost begins to hunt, you'll need to quickly find a hiding spot to protect yourself from certain death. Most ghosts will be able to easily track you down if you aren't able to quickly find a hiding spot, and by the time the ghost is hunting, it's too late to use your Crucifix.
