How To Turn On Visual Terror Radius In Dead By Daylight

Survivors can now use a Visual Terror Radius in Dead by Daylight; here's how to turn it on.
How To Turn On Visual Terror Radius In Dead By Daylight

Dead by Daylight recently introduced visual terror radiuses, which display themselves in the form of a beating heartbeat on the survivor's chest, as an accessibility feature. Having a visual terror radius definitely makes it easier to notice if you're in the killer's vicinity for those who are hard of hearing, or simply if you're not wearing headphones or can't use audio for some reason.

While there are countless reasons why one might want to activate the visual terror radius feature, not everyone will want to turn this feature on, and developers acknowledge this, so it's off by default. If you want to turn your visual terror radius on in Dead by Daylight so you can visually see when the killer is nearby, here's how to toggle it on or off.

How To Turn On Visual Terror Radius In Dead By Daylight

To turn on this accessibility feature, you'll need to boot up Dead by Daylight and then click the gear on the left side that says 'Settings.'  From there, click the tab that says 'Accessibility' up top. You'll be greeted with a menu where you can switch up your accessibility settings as you please, including colorblind mode, subtitles, subtitle background opacity, and more.

You'll want to find the one toward the top that says "Heartbeat Visual Support" and toggle it on. Next time you spawn into a trial as a survivor, you should be able to see your heartbeat when you're in the killer's terror radius. You'll also see a haze on your chest if you're in the area of a killer's lullaby, such as Huntress or Trickster.

If you aren't seeing the visible heartbeat, note that it only activates when the killer has a terror radius; for example, if the killer is Undetectable for one reason or another, you won't see the heartbeat even when you're in the killer's vicinity until they are no longer Undetectable. If you still aren't seeing the visible heartbeat even after you've confirmed that the killer isn't Undetectable - or you hear the terror radius but don't see the heartbeat - you might want to double-check that the feature is toggled on.
