Dead by Daylight's PlayStation outage went on for over a full day this week, affecting many players and preventing them from accessing the game while it was occurring. Many fans requested some compensation for the inconvenience, and Behaviour Interactive listened, announcing yesterday that PlayStation players will get a reward for their patience "shortly."
It came as a bit of a surprising move, as, while DBD sometimes offers compensation for outages or issues, it's rarely for such a brief outage. However, during the outage, developers were unable to provide a lot of information to players about what was going on or when the game would be back online. In fact, it's still unknown what caused the issue. This confusion among players likely contributed to developers' decision to give fans a bit of a reward for their patience.
However, as of 16 August, players have reported receiving varying amounts of compensation, with some saying that they've yet to receive any at all. Reports range from as low to 350k Bloodpoints, to as many as 500k. No players have reported receiving any other type of in-game currency, like Iridescent Shards or Auric Cells, for their problems; developers rarely offer up these valuable in-game currencies for free.
While players are slowly receiving their compensation, some aren't happy with what the amount seems to be. One player on X/Twitter calculated the number of Bloodpoints they could've gained during the outage, which they estimated to be around 1 million of the currency. The user suggested that this would be a decent amount to offer players, rather than a few hundred thousand, since the game was down for a full day.
For now, it's unconfirmed how much compensation PlayStation players will get for the outage yesterday, as reports have been largely inconsistent. It's possible that players could even receive varying amounts of currency.
Regardless of how many Bloodpoints developers offer, it's worth noting that even if you didn't try to play during the PlayStation outage, you'll still get compensation when logging in on the platform. So no matter how much Behaviour offers, it's likely worth logging in to grab those freebies.
