Dead by Daylight's August update adds a myriad of changes to the game, including some buffs for Doctor, Nemesis, and Dredge, but there's one massive change that few have noticed hidden in the patch notes. Scratch Marks now have improved visibility, making it easier for killers to see where survivors are going.

"Scratch Marks are an important tracking tool but could be hard to see on some surfaces," developers explained in the August Developer Update. "We’ve reviewed each map to ensure that they are adequately visible."

In the past, Scratch Marks have been much more visible on some maps than others, making it difficult for killers to track survivors under certain circumstances.

The issue was especially prominent on indoor maps and maps with cornfields, like those in the Coldwind Farm Realm, as many users have pointed out. Some users have even claimed that they'll disconnect as killer when rolling one of these maps:

Thankfully, this update should remedy that issue and make Scratch Marks more visible on all maps, ensuring that killers are able to keep track of their victims no matter the playing field. Other major changes in this August Developer update include longer Hook stages - survivors get an extra 20 seconds to hang on the hook before succumbing to death - and buffs to various killers.

The August Developer update is coming to the game later this month in the Castlevania PTB.
