Dead by Daylight's finishing Mori system is returning in the 8.3.0 PTB, allowing killers to perform a Mori on the final survivor without an offering. "This will provide some visual flair and create a satisfying end to a match," developers wrote in the newest patch notes.
Currently, a Mori offering is needed for a killer to take down a survivor by their own hand. Depending on the Rarity, the killer can either kill one survivor of their choice, the last survivor, or all survivors on second hook. This change would render Memento Mori offerings obsolete in their current state, so developers say they'd be replaced with offerings that will net you extra Bloodpoints for performing a Mori.
In addition to these changes to how Moris work functionally, the mechanic will also get some visual updates. With the changes, nearby objects like rocks, crates, fallen logs, and other environmental objects will disappear during a Mori, preventing obstacles from ruining your moment.
Developers say they've "scaled back" the system so it aligns more with players' expectations, but many players are still unhappy with the updates. The new Mori mechanic would prevent players from taking down all four survivors with Moris, and would not give players the decision to perform a Mori when they want to. However, some survivors argue that it makes the game more fair.
For now, the changes to the Mori system aren't finalized. Instead, they're available on the 8.3.0 PTB. Developers are known to make changes to features - or sometimes even rescind them altogether - before they're added to the game, so fan feedback will likely lead Behaviour's next move.
