Dead by Daylight's Dungeons & Dragons chapter has been officially announced, featuring Vecna as the killer - but it seems that the 8th anniversary killer may originally have been DND's Count Strahd instead. According to Mathieu Cote in an interview with Slasher Radio Podcast, Count Strahd was initially considered as the killer from Dungeons & Dragons.

In the end, Vecna was likely chosen over Count Strahd since the latter is a vampire, and DBD already has an upcoming collaboration with Castlevania that has been announced. Introducing Castlevania alongside Count Strahd would mean that the game would have added two vampire killers in a short period of time.
Even though Count Strahd didn't end up making it into Dead by Daylight at this time, it's possible that Behaviour could add another DND chapter in the future, adding him as a killer. However, it's likely that they'd want to put some time between the introduction of Castlevania - which is likely coming later this year - and another vampire like Count Strahd. So, if he does ever come to Dead by Daylight, it's likely that it won't be for a while.
