Dead by Daylight's 2v8 mode was announced as a limited-time feature lasting for just two weeks, but it seems like developers might be interested in bringing it back again or even making it permanent. In an X/Twitter post, developers mentioned "future iterations" of the 2v8 mode, hinting that, while it's set to leave on Thursday, it likely won't be gone for good.
Behaviour explained that they reactivated a survivor Bloodpoint incentive for 1v4 and 2v8 alike until the mode ends, so the team can "get a better idea" of how much these extra Bloodpoints actually affect matchmaking times and queue distribution.
It seems likely that the team will apply their learnings to the 2v8 mode if they bring it back or make it permanent, with developers choosing Bloodpoint incentives that (hopefully) make the sides more balanced.
While many players have praised the 2v8 game mode and requested that it become permanent, the long killer queues are a lingering issue, with some players reporting that they've had to wait over 30 minutes for a match. Given the new Bloodpoint incentives, it seems like Behaviour is experimenting with ways to make the 2v8 game mode's return - or permanent addition to the game - work without affecting the 4v1 game mode's queues.
