A leaked release date is now available for Dead by Daylight's upcoming 2v8 mode, which will pit 2 killers up against 8 survivors, bringing a totally new experience to the asymmetrical title. The 2v8 mode is scheduled to start on 25 July and will last until 8 August, giving players almost a full month to try out the new gameplay, according to LeaksbyDaylight:
Dead by Daylight first hinted at the possibility of a 2v8 mode in a December 2023 survey sent out to players asking them what modes they'd like in the game. One of the options was none other than the 2v8 mode they've now added, called "2v8 Party". The accompanying text described it as a mode where "Hooks are removed, but Cages of Atonement prevail."
To play the new 2v8 mode, you'll need to open up the game after it's released and jump into the new 2v8 mode queue. Dead by Daylight has recently added a series of limited-time modes, ranging from the short-lived April Fool's 'My Little Oni' mode to the most recent Chaos Shuffle. The latter was so well-received that many hoped that it would be a permanent feature, letting players queue up with randomized loadouts indefinitely in a separate queue.
Chaos Shuffle, Lights Out, and My Little Oni were also options in the survey that hinted at the 2v8 mode - called "Luck of the Draw," "Disgustingly Scary," and "Giant" respectively.
