Dead by Daylight's 2v8 mode is coming back, Behaviour Interactive just announced during the Haunted by Daylight 2024 livestream. The upcoming iteration of the most will last from 12 November through 16 November, giving players two weeks to try out the new mode. It'll feature new maps and more killers, in addition to some tweaks to survivor gameplay to freshen things up.

The new killers include Blight, Spirit, and Deathslinger, who join other original killers including Wraith, Hillbilly, Trapper, Huntress, and Nurse. Players will be able to run from these killers - or chase down survivors - on five new maps, including the Yamaoka Estate and Grave of Glenvale maps. The other three maps will come from existing Realms already in the 2v8 mode. Like other maps, these will be adapted for the 2v8 mode and will be larger.

Another major gameplay change comes in the form of killer classes. Players will be able to choose what killer they'd like to play and can utilize their unique killer power, but will also have access to the Shadow, Brute, Enforcer, and Fearmonger classes. You'll take your pick before each match, much as survivors choose their class in this mode.

Speaking of survivor classes, survivors will still have them in this new iteration - but they'll also have new Abilities that offer buffs when survivors are caged. When one survivor is caged, generator repair speed will speed up; when a generator is finished, the speed will slow down. It seems like in the new 2v8 mode, survivor Abilities will function much like perks. Survivors will get another boost in the form of flashlight saves, which were not allowed in the first iteration.

It'll be interesting to see how these upcoming changes impact the 2v8 meta. Players will have to wait just a little over a month to try out the new killers, maps, and gameplay changes. For now, the mode isn't permanent - but it seems like developers plan on bringing it back pretty frequently.
