Call of Duty: Vanguard has officially launched and has attracted a large body of players eager to experience the immersive new features in the game. These features include brand-new 16 multiplayer maps, destruction mechanics and weather effects, perks, weapons, game modes and more.
For many Call of Duty fans, all of this content pales compared to the weapons they will use to shred their enemies to pieces. That's why we take on the task of providing our readers with COD Vanguard weapon tier lists, ranking weapons of each class based on each weapon's stats and performance in the meta.
So without further ado, here is our list of the best sniper and marksman rifles at the launch of COD Vanguard, ranked from best to worst.
COD Vanguard Sniper Rifle & Marksman tier list
Sniper or marksman rifles are long-range weapons that can and will destroy opponents, should you pick the best ones. Not sure which ones are right for the job? Don't worry - that's where our sniper and marksman rifle tier list for COD Vanguard comes in!
Description of the tiers
- S-Tier: The best of the best for lovers of long-range engagements. These sniper or marksman rifles don't even need all the best attachments to make their bullets sing.
- A-Tier: While perhaps not considered the best, these weapons absolutely shred enemies to pieces and are incredibly strong and viable choices to use.
- B-Tier: These weapons require the perfect loadout to compete with players wielding S- or A-tier weapons.
- C-Tier: Useful in certain situations with the perfect loadout, these sniper rifles aren't all that great.
- D-Tier: The trash tier. Don't pick up these weapons, even if there aren't other options.
Sniper & Marksman Rifle tier list
There are three sniper rifles and three marksman rifles in COD Vanguard. Accordingly, while we endeavour to always keep our tier lists as accurate as possible, keep in mind that these tier lists aren't an exact science.
The developers Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games are expected to release new weapons and nerf or buff certain weapons in the future. When this occurs, we will update this list. Below, all the sniper and marksman rifles in COD Vanguard are ranked from best to worst.
S-Tier
- Kar98k (Sniper)
The Kar98k is the ultimate bolt-action sniper rifle and has dominated other iterations of the Call of Duty franchise. You simply cannot go wrong with the Kar98k. This sniper rifle packs serious damage and is perfect for quick-scoping in COD Vanguard.
The gun boasts great mobility and is capable of taking down enemies in both close-quarters combat and at long ranges. The Kar98k is one of the few weapons that you can use to one-shot enemies quickly and accurately. This sniper rifle shines brightly on its own but can be made even more lethal with the perfect loadout.
A-Tier
- Arisaka Type 99 (Sniper)
- 3-Line Rifle or "Mosin-Nagant" (Sniper)
The Arisaka Type 99 is a bolt-action sniper rifle from Japan. It can be used as a substitute for the M1 Garand, boasting faster reload time, fire rate and ammunition capacity. The Arisaka Type 99 makes our A-tier list because of its one-shot killing potential to the head, neck and chest, without Stopping Power. The 3-Line Rifle is closely tied to the Arisaka Type 99 and boasts similar damage but may require an extra shot to close the deal.
B-Tier
- M1 Garand (Marksman)
The M1 Garand is an adaptable marksman rifle with lethal accuracy and a demonstrably high fire rate; well, for its class. The M1 Garand can kill enemies with just two well-placed shots in the medium to long range, or perhaps even with a one-shot to the head at close enough range. The only drawback is that the M1 Garand has poor ADS speed, although this can easily be resolved with the perfect loadout.
C-Tier
- Gewehr-43 (Marksman)
- SVT-40 (Marksman)
The Gewehr-43 and SVT-40 could be viable weapons to use in COD Vanguard with the right loadout but may have a difficult time contending with the other weapons on this list.
For example, the Gewehr-43 has a high fire rate and decent control but simply lacks remarkable damage to have any significant impact over longer ranges. On the other hand, the SVT-40 has the potential to land one-shot kills but has poor mobility and a low fire rate.
D-Tier
- None
Since COD Vanguard only recently launched, we are compelled to allow each of these weapons to prove themselves. Therefore, we have not demoted any of the guns to the "trash tier" yet.
So there you have it, our complete tier list for all snipers and marksman rifles at the start of COD Vanguard. Do you disagree with our list? We don't care. To be even more disappointed, check out our other tier lists in our dedicated section.
