Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was a huge hit for Nintendo in the mobile market, giving players a bite-sized version of the franchise’s charm. While the game has been criticized for some of its microtransactions (MTX), that hasn’t stopped it from making plenty of money for Nintendo.

It seems that Pocket Camp is going through some rebranding, as the mobile app will soon be closing and relaunching. This is a major change for the mobile game, and fan reception should be interesting, to say the least.

The official Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Twitter account announced that services for the current free-to-play version will be ending this November 28. A new paid version of the game is in development, which will require no internet and can carry over existing save date from the previous version.

Completely removing microtransactions for a one-time payment is a noteworthy move, since Nintendo made plenty of money through them. However, keeping an offline version of the game that only requires a one-time payment is more ethical, especially since a lot of mobile titles that shut down don’t do this.

Fans can still download Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp for free and even partake in upcoming events. More news about the paid version will be shared by October, so fans won’t have to wait too long before getting their Pocket Camp fix again.
