Patch 2.3 has just arrived to League of Legends: Wild Rift, after a season full of teasers and the introduction of new champions and more skins into the mobile game, bringing more diversity to its expansive roster with nearly 70 characters available at the moment.
As part of this new update, four iconic champions from the realms of Runeterra will be making their debut in the Wild Rift, with two of these being now ready for pick along with the limited-time event Broken Blades, Riven and Irelia.
In this champions guide we will focus on Riven, an orphan champion from Noxus who is currently living in Jonia, after her faith in her homeland was tested and ultimately broken in the Great War between these two nations, which explains the origin of her alias, the Exile.
Riven’s active and passive abilities

With her passive, Runic Blade, all of Riven's abilities will charge her blade, while her basic attacks will expend charges to deal additional damage.
Let's move on to her active skills:
- Broken Wings: Riven launches a series of strikes, being able to reactivate up to three times in a short period. The third hit will knock back all nearby enemies.
- Ki Burst: Riven will emit a Ki Blast that damages and stuns nearby enemies.
- Valor: Riven advances a short distance, blocking the Damage she takes thanks to a temporary shield.
- Ultimate - Blade of the Exile: Riven will power up her keepsake weapon with energy, increasing her Attack Damage and range. During this time, she will have the ability to use her Wind Slash, a powerful ranged attack that deals bonus damage based on the health of her enemies.

-

-

The best items for Riven

The best items for Riven will be focused on increasing her burst and bruiser capabilities, adding a lot of damage and resilience so she can easily win exchanges against any opponent, without having to fall down in the battlefield.
-
Death’s Dance: Converts a percentage of the damage taken into delayed damage, giving you more room to be in the fight along with his physical omnivampirism.
-
Black Cleaver: Grants bonus health and damage, as well as drastically reducing enemy armour with each attack or skill damage.
-
Sterak's Gage: Grants additional health and a passive shield, which gives Renekton an advantage in fights, allowing him to stay in fight longer with a great chance of emerging victorious.
-
Guardian Angel: Its revive effect allows you to fully attack squarely, without risking giving away a kill along the way.
To complete her build, you will have two options focusing on physical or magical opponents, but as always feel free to combine both types of items for special occasions.
-
Physical: Plated Steelcaps with Quicksilver or Teleport Enchant, and Youmuu’s Ghostblade or Mortal Reminder.
-
Magical: Mercury Threads with Quicksilver or Teleport Enchant, and Bloodthirster or Maw of Malmortius.
Tips for Riven’s playstyle
(Picture: Riot Games)
Riven is a melee champion who has been famous thanks to her great mobility and her intricate combinations of skills, which allows her to be a more than usual pick for all those who like to use her combos, although it can cost a little work learning how to use them correctly.
To play perfectly with her, you will need a lot of precision, planning and management of the cooldowns of her abilities, so it is essential to practice a lot in the Rift before you enter the combat in your ranked games.
Riven's abilities allow her to harass the enemy in a great way as soon as combat begins, thanks to the fact she does not need mana to use them. Even if you put yourself at risk a little, you should always try to start your siege with her Valor to fully engage the enemy.

Once you're close, use her Ki Burst to paralyze the enemy in your sights, allowing you to reposition yourself to use her Broken Wings combo and finish them off. You can exit combat using her Valor again if its cooldown has regenerated, or you can even use this to knock out the opponent if they are low on health.
As for her Ultimate, the ideal for this is to activate it as soon as you can in combat in order to optimally use its additional Damage, so you can leave the enemies at your mercy and have a better chance of annihilating them with her Wind Slash.
Riven's great mobility along with her diverse arsenal allows her to be the ideal character to hunt down and kill anyone, even against those with crowd control spells, so she can be one of the best options if you are more at playing without depending on anyone, in addition to having a good handle on Wild Rift’s touch controls.
