In recent years, many champions within League of Legends have received changes in their gameplay and their abilities to make them more in line with the current meta, notable examples include Ryze and Mordekaiser.
On 15th January, Riot Games announced a series of future changes to champions, with one of the oldest in the game, Rammus, set to receive an update in his skills, all of this is ahead of his arrival to the company’s mobile game, League of Legends: Wild Rift.

For this update, according to Mark "Scruffy" Yetter, Head of Design, the development teams on both the PC and mobile versions have decided to work together, to improve parts of his gameplay that were becoming somewhat obsolete while they tried to keep his iconic speed intact.
This is how the two main changes that Rammus will undergo in the coming months have been presented, which will first arrive in the PC version, and then will be implemented once he is added to the Wild Rift roster:
Puncturing Taunt (E):
- Taunt duration is increased by 250% on monsters.
- Cooldown :: 12/11.5/11/105/10 >>> 12 at all ranks
- Taunt Duration :: 1.25-2.25 >>> 1-2 seconds
New Ultimate: Soaring Slam (R):
- Rammus leaps into the air and slams down at a target location, dealing magic damage and Slowing enemies for 1 second.
- If Soaring Slam is cast while Rammus is in Powerball, enemies near the centre are also Knocked Up and take Powerball's collision damage, ending Powerball's effect.
- Rammus also generates 3 additional aftershocks at the target location, each one dealing a small amount of magic damage and refreshing the initial slow.
- Soaring Slam deals 200% damage to turrets.
- Soaring Slam's range increased based on Rammus' Move Speed.
- Cooldown :: 100/80/60 >>> 120/100/80 seconds
The main goals of these changes, according to Scruffy, are to increase gameplay options for Rammus, giving Rammus players a distinctive high-point that properly reflects his high-speed style, being power-neutral and improving clarity and satisfaction on both VFX and SFX.
In addition, Scruffy took advantage of this space to comment that the plans for the great changes of Tahm Kench are still on the table, however, these will take a while to appear due to design and sound issues that have emerged in the champion's development.
