Many fans were excited to play a new Half-Life game, after almost 13 full years since the lunch of Half-Life 2: Episode 2, the last Half-Life game in the series.
Although Alyx is a full Virtual Reality title, the hype for the game is so big, that it was estimated that more then 300k people owned the game even before the game was released.
Yet, there are still many other fans the Half-Life series who would very much like to play this game but aren't able due to expensive equipment the game requires, which includes high-end PC and VR headset.
Nonetheless, there are people in Valve that are sure that even in this very moment, someone is already working on a mode for a transition into regular "mouse and keyboard" title. In conversation with Polygon, Valve's Robin Walker said that it is not about will it happen, but about when and how.
The game is designed for playing in VR. Although technically it can be ported into a standard way of playing, Walker says that it will be a disappointing experience since the real magic of playing the game is about "being there" and doing things manually, as if in real life, instead of just pushing the buttons.
Would you play this game if they make a mouse and keyboard mode, even if you know that the whole experience is designed around the immersion that VR technology provides?
