The most terrifying aspect of many horror games is their characters - be they creepy in appearance, unsettling in demeanor, or downright terrifying all-around, characters tend to be the true terrors. Even in classic horror games like Silent Hill, where the atmosphere is terrifying, the characters themselves help ground the player and give them a sense of reality and familiarity.
In the horror game Scorn, though, things are a little different. All of the horrors come from its diversely terrifying locations - the game is designed to make players feel “thrown into the world.” Characters take the backseat as we learn about creepy locations all around the region.
