German publisher Daedalic Entertainment announced Lord of the Rings: Gollum over a year ago, and now can take a first look at the game.
First Lord of the Rings: Gollum screenshots emerge

Gollum was always a special character in the world of Lord of the Rings. His role is almost as important and big as the ones of the main characters, and his unique presence and motivations made him quite mysterious and intriguing, which sparked the interest of many.

Daedalic Entertainment has been working over a year now on a new Lord of the Rings game, based around Gollum as the main protagonist of the game. After almost a year of silence, we now have 11 screenshots from the game, which is our first look into it.

The game is based on Tolkien books rather than the films, and Deadalic had some freedom to design Gollum how they like, but he ended up looking very similar to the one in movies, and matter of fact - almost exactly the same.

The game is a prequel to The Lord of the Rings, and it takes place before Gollum and Frodo meet each other for the first time. But we still don't exactly know what will be the premise of the story, and some suggest that it might be an encounter with Shelob, given that we see so many spiders in the screenshots.

Judging by the screenshots, one of the main locations will also be mines of Moria, but there are also some more "greenish" locations to be seen on screenshots.

The visual style is a bit odd, it looks kinda like it is from some older era of PS3 games, almost cartoonish at its nature, which is already creating some divided opinions around the internet.

We also don't know much about the gameplay, but judging by what we see, it will probably be some combination of stealth, combat and platforming.
