Link Revealed To Be Playable For The Legend of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom

Nintendo's forthcoming gaming release, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, was announced during their June 2024 Direct presentation as the next entry in the acclaimed franchise. This time, players will assume the role of the Hyrulean princess Zelda, who embarks on her first solo adventure as she utilizes the echoes and a new companion to save the Kingdom of Hyrule in this new story.

Featuring new gameplay mechanics, skills, and weapons for Zelda to use during her adventures to save her kingdom, one notable swordsman was recently revealed to be playable in the forthcoming action-adventure game. This comes as the game's ESRB rating was posted online, confirming that Link will be included as a playable character. Echoes of Wisdom is slated to be released later this year.

According to Echoes of Wisdom's ESRB rating summary, the valiant Hyrulean hero, Link, will appear in the action-adventure game. While this game is still Zelda's standalone story, they can play as Link; however, he is one of the many Hyruleans that have gone missing due to the peculiar riffs spawned in the kingdom.

As Link, players use a sword and arrows to defeat enemies; Zelda can use a magic wand to summon creatures (e.g., wind-up knights, pig soldiers, slime) for battle.

As it's unclear how players can play as Link in Echoes of Wisdom, we theorize that Zelda must rescue Link by progressing in-game before he can be unlocked as a playable character. Nevertheless, how players will be able to play as Link in the next Legend of Zelda game, they'll have to wait for its release as Nintendo confirmed Echoes of Wisdom is launching for the Nintendo Switch on 26th September 2024 as a Switch Online membership may be needed to utilize its Save Data Cloud feature.
