Dreamcore, a psychological exploration game that promises to "immerse players in the haunting beauty" of liminal spaces, is set to release on 23 January 2025 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
Coinciding with the announcement at the Latin American Games Showcase, there's also a new demo out today from indie developer Montraluz and publisher Tlön Industries. The demo is available today through 31 December on Steam and Xbox as part of its Winter Demo Festival.
"Dreamcore sets players loose to explore a multitude of extraordinary, expansive worlds based around labyrinths of liminal spaces," the game's publisher explains. "Loosely inspired by the 'backrooms' memes, Dreamcore offers a one-of-a-kind experience to probe these nonlinear realms, with each world featuring a unique puzzle players must solve in order to locate its exit."
Developers say that the game is non-linear, and features a variety of interconnected worlds for players to explore. It's been fully developed in Unreal Engine 5, with each of the worlds providing a "hazy, twisted memory of the 1980s, complete with the grainy aesthetic of found footage VHS tapes."
Dreamcore's latest demo features one of those worlds. It highlights the game’s second world, Eternal Suburbia, which is inspired by Level 94 of the Backrooms wiki.
