DOOM Eternal is an insanely fun game. Developer id Software once again has delivered a pure, bloody masterpiece, with an abundance of cool and powerful weapons. But they decided to leave the pistol out.
Although not as flashy as Combat Shotgun and other mighty weapons in the game, it's still an iconic weapon that was present in all older DOOM games in different iterations. In DOOM 2016, unlike its original iterations, it shoots directed-energy beams instead of bullets and also has unlimited ammo. And DOOM Eternal now dropped the weapon completely.
But the thing is - they did work on a pistol for the DOOM Eternal, it's just that they decided not to add it in a final version of the game, as a design choice. What they forgot tho, is to remove it from game files, it's still there, and someone naturally has found a way to bring it into the game.
New Blood founder Dave Oshry shared this information via his Twitter. He said that the weapon is accessible via console commands (with Cheat Engine), and shared footage of it to provide proof. He also said that he "it was scrapped because it didn't really fit the combat flow."
It looks pretty sweet, and we will definitely try it this weekend!
You've probably heard by now that DOOM Eternal originally had a pistol and YES it's still in the game and accessible via console commands (with Cheat Engine)

I've heard it was scrapped because it didn't really fit the combat flow.
