Calling all Speedrunners as new content has dropped for the platformer game Astro Bot recently, a new speedrun challenge has become available as promised by developer Team Asobi back in September 2024. New Special Bots and stages or speedrun challenge levels, which is its third speedrun challenge, the Spring-loaded Run level, had launched for the platformer, which players can begin challenging themselves and their friends online.
This new speedrun challenge is available to all Astro Bot players for free, and it continues pushing their "platforming skills" while competing against an online leaderboard as motivation. The developer has explained how they can access these speedrunning levels, which they are to complete the base game as a requirement.
The Spring-loaded Run speedrun level has gone live in Astro Bot, where players are to ensure that the base game is updated and, as mentioned before, have finished the game's main story. This latest speedrunning challenge level can be accessed from the stopwatch-shaped nebula beside the game's final boss level, the Gorilla Nebula, to participate in this exciting new challenge.
Like with previous speedrun challenge levels released weekly, there are new Special Bots to unlock; however, we have yet to determine which Bots are available and also to avoid spoilers. It's already been confirmed that Special Bots based on characters from Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade will join the game (and players must find and unlock), but the developer has remained tight-lipped on which other characters we may find across the new speedrun challenge levels.
Furthermore, two more speedrun challenge levels are coming soon to Astro Bot, which was confirmed in the speedrun level announcement post on the PlayStation Blog. This post confirmed the dates and times of their releases, which are every Thursday at 6 am PT / 9 am ET / 2 pm BST / 10 pm JST, with Helium Heights on 7th November 2024 and Rising Heat on 14th November 2024, wrapping up all five speedrun levels released for Astro Bot.
