Amazon's f2p sci-fi hero shooter Crucible is coming this May

Crucible is first of the planned three "entry" gamers from Amazon, and it now finally has a release date.
Amazon's f2p sci-fi hero shooter Crucible is coming this May

For years now Amazon is slowly mapping out their plans to enter the video game industry. They by far the biggest project is MMO New World, which has been delayed for a few months due to COVID-19 problems.

But their first game that will officially come out is called Crucible.

Crucible is a strange mix of a Hero Shooter, MOBA, Battle Royale and classic old school shooters.

At launch, the game will have 10 class-based characters, called Hunters, each with their own unique abilities, silhouette and roles in a match. Before each match, you’ll select which upgrades to unlock as you level up. With these upgrades, you can define how your hunter fights - will you add some additional utility or go all-in on your damage output, or something in between.

And yes, there is a levelling in this game: in each match teams level up as they collect "essence," strange blue things that glow yellowish. For the first five levels, you unlock a preselected upgrade on each level, and after that, you simply become stronger with each level - more health and more damage.

On launch, the game will have 3 Modes to play: Heart of the Hives, Harvester Command, and Alpha Hunters.

Heart of the Hives has a PvE element in it -two teams of four are fighting giant hive creatures in a race to collect three "Hearts".

Alpha Hunters is a good old team deathmatch, like a "mini" Battle Royale. Eight teams of two players are fighting in the last-man-standing scenario.

Harvester Command is about controlling essence harvesters on various map locations. There are two teams of eight, and the team who collects a set amount of essence wins.

And now we finally have a launch date - 20th May! The game is coming currently on Steam only, with no mention of console versions of the games. It will be free to play, so you could at least give it a try if it sounds interesting to you.
