There's an interesting new multiplayer in the works from OtherSide Entertainment, a studio led by the creator of the immersive sim genre Warren Spector and Paul Neurath. Thick As Thieves is an upcoming stealth-action title that throws players into a PvPvE world, all set in an alternative timeline version of the 1910's.
Neurath serves as OtherSide's creative director, whereas Spector sits as studio director of the company's Austin branch. Spector is perhaps best known for his involvement in System Shock, Deus Ex, and the Ultima series. As for Neurath, fans will have seen his work from Thief, as well as the Ultima series alongside Spector.
Thick As Thieves was announced during The Game Awards 2024 with a trailer that gave us a brief look at how certain runs go down. Players are tasked with stealing a certain item from a location and escaping without leaving a trace. However, you won't be the only one after the item, with other players also seeking to sabotage and steal your prize.
The game seems poised to cater to different playstyles, too. If stealth isn't really your bag then a more run-and-gun approach could be your strategy. It's all about getting results, and making sure your opponents are left high and dry.
The world your heists take place in also plays an important role. You'll be gathering information from NPCs, uncovering secrets from the city's criminal underbelly, and shaping the story through your actions. It's from the best minds of immersive sims, after all.
Thick As Thieves doesn't have a definitive release date just yet, but we do know it has a 2026 release window and will be heading to PS5 and PC via Steam.
