- MkLeo managed to fight through the losers bracket to win Frostbite 2020
- The world's best beat nine opponents in a row, including Tweek, Dark Wizzy and Nairo
- The final saw him bring out newcomer Byleth to finish off Maister
MkLeo may have lost his winning streak at Genesis 7, but he reinstated his position as the best Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player in the world at Frostbite 2020.
Taking place in Detroit, Michigan, Frostbite 2020 marks the fifth anniversary of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament and features a $12,800 prize pool.
Heading into the top eight, there were some notable omissions from the usual suspects; with Genesis 7 champion Tyler “Marss” Martins and Let’s Make Big Moves winner Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada both eliminated.
Mr. Game & Watch player Enrique “Maister” Hernandez Solis, who recently signed with Spacestation Gaming, secured a place in the grand final through the winners bracket after defeating Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey.

Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez ascended through the losers bracket with an incredible run of eight wins to reach the final after beating Tweek. There were some close scrapes along the way too, with Japanese player Takuma “Tea” Hirooka nearly toppling the number one seed in a tense 3-2 result.
In the grand final clash between the Mexican titans, MkLeo managed to reset the bracket with a swift 3-0 victory - setting the stage for what was to come.
For the second set, Maister switched from Mr. Game and Watch to Pichu although, while more difficult to handle for MkLeo’s Joker, it wasn’t enough to take the first game.
Congratulations to @Mkleosb for taking 1st/1280 in Smash Ultimate Singles @ Frostbite 2020!

Switching back to Mr. Game and Watch, Maister had an even worse time — with MkLeo easily taking the lead with two stocks left.
In a surprise turn, MkLeo decided to switch from Joker to Byleth in the third game — showing off some incredible skills with the character who was only released last month. He managed to easily finish off Maister to secure the Frostbite 2020 title.
