One of the first steps in surviving and possibly even thriving in Raft is to craft a Research Table. Without it, there's just no way you or your friends can make it through the perilous voyage across the vast sea, with shark-infested waters.
In this guide, we'll help you on your first steps of the voyage by explaining how you can craft a Research Table and use it to unlock a plethora of necessary items, so let's dive in.
How To Craft Research Table in Raft
Without a Research Table, you cannot progress far in Raft. You'll need it to create important items such as weapons, fishing poles, and even story-related bits such as the Circuit Board to create the Receiver.
To craft your first Research Table in Raft, simply gather the first basic items from the water surrounding your little raft until you have 14 Planks and 2 Scraps. The latter can be found in barrels floating around.
Once you have the required material, open your crafting menu, and under "Other," you'll find the Research Table. Select the Research Table and then select "Craft," then place it wherever you want on your raft.
After you've crafted your first Research Table, you'll get the ability to unlock new item recipes in Raft.
Using Research Table To Unlock New Items in Raft
Once you have a Research Table, simply interact with it, and then you'll see a list of items you can research in order to craft. For example, to unlock the recipe to craft a Lantern, you must add x1 Plank and x1 Scrap to the Research Table.
Adding an item like that to the Research Table consumes it when unlocking crafting recipes. After you've unlocked all recipes via the Research Table, you'll earn the "Bookworm!" achievement
Contrary to popular opinion, you do not have to put Blueprints in the Research Table anymore. This was a change by the developer, as Blueprints now adds the crafting recipes to your character as soon as you pick them up.
With thirst being a big problem for new players to deal with, we suggest unlocking a Water Purifier and equipment to defend themselves, such as a Metal Spear.
