Sony could bring wireless charging and back buttons to the DualSense with the PS5's release

As we're getting closer to the release of next-gen consoles, more details have been revealed regarding the PS5, and if leaks are to be believed we might be in store for a world that is completely wireless.

First spotted by a user on the ResetEra gaming forums, Sony registered a patent for a nifty tool - a wireless charger that includes back buttons.

According to the patent description, the device is "a wireless charging adapter that can snap onto a computer game controller can be inductively coupled to a charging base to wirelessly recharge a battery in the controller."

While the elevator pitch might sound convoluted, the graphic examples (using a DS4) depict a pad aching to Qi technologies where one can put their respective controllers without the need to connect them to an outlet, as long as the plug-in is installed.

The patent, which was filed this past May 24th and is still pending approval, aims to kill two birds with one stone, which is why they're including an extra set of buttons for players to map.

"Combining a wireless charging adaptor with the ability to strategically locate duplicate game controller button controls on the adaptor, which is mounted on the backside of the controller, enhances and improves games play and provides a one-product solution to address two problems for computer garners at the same time."

Seems Sony has huge plans for their next-gen controller, as revealed by the new technologies such as the advanced haptic feedback that developers say is a marked improvement on what is available in the current gen consoles.
