As many are preparing for the upcoming Holiday Season, with many anticipating spending time with family and loved ones over Christmas, Singularity 6 has revealed what will be included in their next patch update. As this patch update will be their Winter Holiday update, players can look forward to several Christmas-themed content that will bring forth that Festive Spirit.
Detailed in their latest Developer Update post, the studio confirmed that the world will slowly be covered in plenty of snow and Christmas decorations from the family farm in Leafhopper Hills to the coast of Beachcomber Cove. This will coincide with the in-game celebration known as Winterlights, which “brings light to the darkest days of the year and shares that light with family, friends, and community.”
Players can anticipate plenty of themed content, including Tree Decorating, which bridges the gap between human traditions and Majiri culture. While players will have a Christmas tree to own for their home, they’ll be able to decorate this tree with decorations, which can be found through exploration, and we’ll provide extended coverage on where they can get decorations in-game.
With the arrival of snow in Kilima Village and Bahari Bay, all can enjoy a “festive and frivolous winter fun” in-game, as announced by the developer. Snowball fights will be coming soon to Palia as throwable snowballs can be acquired at a new seasonal store, similar to the Spooky Store for Halloween, with plenty of other Christmas items available.
Lastly, another update on the next temple coming to the game, the Temple of the Gales, will be a new playable area that brings “a mix of challenging puzzles, intriguing mysteries, and deeper insights into ancient human history.” While this may be interesting, given the arrival of Subira in the v0.173 patch update, there will be a new vault to unlock and make contributions to acquire new items.
Additionally, this temple is to be connected with Caleri and Elouisa’s backstory, which looks to strengthen their sisterly bond over time. The next patch update will address plenty of bug fixes and optimizations included in the Winter update; the Developer Update post concluded with no new details on the game’s Nintendo Switch release yet.
Palia is currently available in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is slated to be released for the Nintendo Switch this Holiday Season 2023.
