The Outlast Trials' upcoming Project Lupara update will bring tons of new content to the game, including a new villain, a new map, gameplay improvements, fresh mechanics, and much more.
The update introduces a brand-new antagonist to join Mother Gooseberry and Sergeant Coyle; his name is Franco Barbi, and developers promise that he brings his "own depraved backstory." The son of a mafia boss, he's entitled and violence-thirsty - and he not only wields a distinctive, eerie pacifier, but also a powerful sawed-off shotgun, allowing him to attack from a distance.
Barbi makes his entrance in The Docks, the newest map set in Barbi's drug manufacturing area. Puzzles throughout the zone make it more challenging, but survivor players will be equipped with a new power - The Barricade - to help them out.
The last major update coming with Project Lupara is the new Escalation Therapy mode, which turns the game into a roguelite. It'll feature endless randomized Trials, requiring you to start over if you lose - but your rewards will increase over time.
