Red Candle Games

Nine Sols is fundamentally a combat-focused game, but it integrates its combat mechanics into various elements of platforming, exploration, and traversal. One example of this is the Guardian Statues—living obstacles that block your path unless you know how to overcome them.

Fortunately, you don't have to figure it out alone, as this guide will provide all the information you need about Guardian Statues in Nine Sols. We’ll cover everything from how these statues work to the key strategies for defeating them and continuing your journey.

How To Shut Down Guardian Statues In Nine Sols

When you first venture out from the Four Seasons Pavilion, you'll notice large robotic-statue-like beings that initially seem inactive. However, as you get closer, they will become hostile and are immune to normal damage. To shut them down, you need to use a specific parrying technique: either a well-timed normal parry or a Tai Chi parry, depending on the robot's attack type.

For robots that perform red or "un-parryable" attacks like other enemies in the game, you will need to use a Tai-Chi parry to stop them. For robots that execute normal attacks, a standard ground parry will suffice. Successfully parrying these robots will stagger them, providing a brief opportunity to hack them with the correct sequence. Once successfully hacked, the robots will be shut down.

After shutting down a Guardian statue, you will notice changes in the environment, such as doors opening, chests appearing, or secrets being revealed. Think of these Guardian statues as living keys within the level. Some doors are marked with blue circular symbols, indicating that all the guardians in the level must be deactivated to open them.

This means you need to search each area carefully to find the Guardian statues that unlock the secrets within. Look for anything that appears breakable or pay attention to areas where you can send your Mystic Nymph to hack terminals and open sections.

Simple Guardian statues will reward you with regular Jin, but more complex scenarios—where you must deactivate multiple guardians to unlock a single door—often provide unique and valuable loot. So, make sure to explore thoroughly and find all the Guardian statues to uncover the full range of rewards hidden in the levels!
