The March 2024 patch update for Marvel Snap added plenty of Quality-of-life (QoL) updates for mobile and PC, new cards, and highly requested features to keep players snapping their way to victory. Of the new features included in time for the Avengers vs. X-Men season, a premium monetization option, the Gold Pass, was made available permanently from the in-game Shop.
The Gold Pass serves a similar purpose to the Season Pass, which allows players to acquire more Gold outside the Season Pass, Weekly, and Bonus Challenges, but how can players get one? In this guide, we've discussed how they can obtain the Gold Pass and answer the question of whether it's worth buying in Marvel Snap.
What Is The Gold Pass And How To Get In Marvel Snap?
The Gold Pass is a brand new bundle that developer Second Dinner introduced along with the game's patch notes and new season centered around the Avengers vs. X-Men event on 12th March 2024. This unique new bundle functions similarly to the Season Pass offering, in which players can receive Gold daily by logging into the game once they've acquired it.
For comparison, the current Avengers vs. X-Men Season Pass for Marvel Snap lets players claim up to 1,200 Gold if all are claimed, and the Gold Pass allows them to receive a maximum of 1,800 Gold. Players who own a Season and Gold Pass will be awarded 3,000 Gold, which can be spent to purchase Credits and card variants from the in-game Shop.
This excluded the Gold received from the Weekly Challenges and Bonus Challenges, which refresh weekly. The Gold Pass is valid for 30 days, and players can gain 300 Gold when activated and 50 Gold daily by logging in as they must log in to claim them as any Gold not claimed won't be refunded or reimbursed.
The Gold Pass is currently priced at $4.99 or equivalent to their local currency and can be acquired in-game from the Shop or via the Nuverse web store. Naturally, with the introduction of the Gold Pass, players have debated whether the bundle is worth getting with or without the Season Pass, currently priced at $9.99 or equivalent to their local currency.
So, Is The Gold Pass Worth Getting For Marvel Snap?
While there's very little that players can use Gold for outside of gaining extra Credit or acquiring a variant for their favorite cards, this may devalue its worth quite dramatically. However, one cannot dispute how appealing it is for players to receive 1,800 Gold for $4.99 compared to getting the 700 Gold bundle, which a first-time purchase grants them a bonus of 700 Gold for $9 or its equivalent.
Furthermore, if they purchased the 1,450 Gold bundle for around $20, which is a first-time purchase, grants them a bonus of 1,450 Gold, then the Gold Pass is still more valuable than both bundles as the bonus top-up is only applicable once. We can't adequately compare the Gold Pass to other limited-time bundles that offer Gold as the value varies; hence, comparing its value against the available Gold bundles is more consistent.
So, ultimately, spending between $9 and $20 to get nearly close to the amount of Gold offered in the Gold Pass indeed positions itself as quite valuable for money when excluding the Gold gained from limited-time bundles and Weekly Challenges. However, the biggest downside is that it's locked behind a mechanic akin to the daily login currently in place for the Credits, which means that if players don't log in, they'll lose the 50 Gold for that day.
Additionally, they may be unable to acquire any variant they want, whether for a card they enjoy playing or progress with a particular Album, due to insufficient Gold to purchase it. This, in turn, may see players looking to grab a Gold bundle instead of making that purchase, but what it offers, and its value does make it a welcoming bundle to have along with the Season Pass to maximize further how much Gold they can get especially when factoring the Weekly and Bonus Challenges.
