In FFXIV it's possible to play every Job on a single character. You can load into a raid as a DPS, then fight some world bosses as a tank before helping out in a Dungeon Roulette as a healer.
While a lot of the Classes and Jobs are available to all players from the start of the game, with each new expansion, the developers of FFXIV have been good at introducing new Jobs to spice things up.
These Jobs require players to meet certain criteria before they can be unlocked, however, and one of these Jobs is the Samurai. So, if you are curious about how to unlock the Samurai, this article will guide you through everything you need to do to start playing this Job.
How To Unlock Samurai In FFXIV
To unlock Samurai, players must first have purchased Stormblood, as this Job is exclusive to this expansion. Fortunately Stormblood is now included as part of the FFXIV free trial. Additionally, players must have a Disciple of War or a Disciple of Magic at level 50 or above.
Once both of these criteria have been met, players will need to head to the The Steps of Nald in Ul'Dah. There, players can accept the Samurai Job acquisition quest, "The Way of the Samurai."
The Samurai Job, unlike other Classes which start at level 1, will start at level 30. Samurai is a very powerful melee DPS that is often considered to be one of the more selfish DPS Jobs in the game. While not providing much utility to the rest of the raid party in the form of buffs, damage amplifiers, or mitigation, the Samurai makes up for this by pumping out sheer ridiculous amounts of DPS thanks to its self-buffing abilities.
